Is it relevant to have a distance between the probe and the tank?

Depending on the viscosity and conductivity of the medium, we recommend our customers usually to maintain a minimum distance of 2 cm.

Can there be irregularities in the detection with a separate amplifier?

We advise our clients against the combination, short rod and long connection cable between the probe and a separate amplifier. This can possibly lead to inaccurate measurements sometimes. If you have difficulties here, please contact CAPTRON at/under:

Which kind of connection cable for probes are available?

In our catalog under the heading accessories you will find all suitable connecting cables.

What are the types of capacitive level sensors?

CAPTRON offers a range of level sensors adapted to different requirements, applications and industries. In our current catalog you will find the standard program and also examples of special sensors.

Is there a WHG approval for the CAPselect level sensors?

Yes, the CAPselect compact probes and the CAA-probes are suitable and certified for applications according to the Water Resources Act.

Has the geometry of the tank effects on the measurement result?

Yes, the geometry of the tank should be noted. Please contact CAPTRON at/under:

Which probes are suitable for the application at high temperatures of the medium?

Probes with separate amplifiers have been specially developed for media with high temperatures. These are even suitable for temperatures up to 180 °C.

Is my probe suitable to the medium?

Due to the large variety of media no general statement can be made. Therefore please contact CAPTRON at/under:

What are dielectric constant values?

The capacitive level measurement measures the change of electrical capacitance between the electrodes and the surrounding medium. The forms of the change depend on the dielectric constant (DC value) of the medium. If this is constant, it can be inferred the measured capacitance of how deep the electrodes are placed into the medium. Thus not only the limit value will be detected, but also the continuous liquid level determined. The DC list compiled by us will also inform you about the media compatibility.

Up to which pressure CAPTRON probes can be used?

Level sensors by CAPTRON can be used up to a maximum pressure of 10 bar.

I have an agitator in the tank, can I still use a CAT probe?

Yes, a CAT probe can be used with an agitator. However, the distance to the agitator must be observed. Our sales team will be happy to advise you. Contact us at/under:

What kind of material are the probe rod, thread and probe head made of?

The process connections (threads) are optionally available in stainless steel V4A, Teflon and PEEK. The CAPTRON standard probe rod is made of virgin Teflon (PTFE). Additional rod materials such as PEEK are available upon request. The housing of the probe amplifier are made of anodized aluminum, V4A stainless steel or plastic. You can find more information about different areas in our Level Measurement Catalog.

Do capacitive level sensors also work in plastic tanks?

Yes, jacket tube probes made in stainless steel and 2-rod probes made in Teflon also work in plastic tanks.

Which rod lengths are available for level measurement probes?

We do not manufacture our probes in lengths prefabricated, but with millimetre precision up to a length of 3000 mm in line with the customer’s request.

Is there a factory made setting for the probes?

Yes, probes with Teflon rod (PRFE) are standard preset to water with the dielectric value of about 80.

How long is the delivery time for standard probes?

In general, we provide level sensors from our standard range within Germany in 1-2 weeks. Shipments abroad will take about 2-3 weeks. With special designs, please talk to your sales representative.
